Born Popoola Bamaiyi AKA MO’GUNZ is a multi disciplinary artist as he functions as a rapper, singer, songwriter, poet and budding producer. Born and raised in the FCT, he hails from the western part of the country, Oyo state to be precise. Known for his dynamic range and a quite commanding voice to match, Mo’Gunz has been tapped as one of the emerging lights of new generation African music. With hiphop fusion as his core genre, he’s been known to dabble into other sounds as Afrobeats, Afro swing, wave music, lofi amongst others. His energy both on and off the stage has garnered him quite a following with a voice to match his unique lyricism. With a growing discography, Mo’Gunz has a robust catalogue spanning over three solo projects, a joint project with friend and affiliate Droxx and a complication album from hiphop collective Bad influence. Mo’Gunz’s music has seen a meteoric rise recently due to the popularization of Nigerian Drill music which he aptly dubbed #234Drill. Seeing chart success with his solo release ROAD$TER charting in 10 countries, peaking #36 and #34 in Ireland and the Philippines respectively. While his joint project with Droxx peaked #21 in on apple music’s world album chart. Homegrown from the nation’s capital, Mo’Gunz’s mission is to change the face of African hiphop elevate the standards which have been set before and push new boundaries through his music.
